[Blurb about Mark]
James came to trust in Jesus by seeing Him revealed through other Christians. James grew up at the Church Missionary Society conference centre in Katoomba. He saw Christians, who were usually serving in churches around the world, come together for a weekend or conference and they would talk about Jesus and what a life trusting and following Him was like. James saw that their faith was real, that the Spirit does change people’s lives, that Jesus’ death and resurrection is a true moment in history, and that God is the supreme Creator of everything. Knowing these truths, James realised that he “could not help but to follow Jesus myself”.
James serves as a part-time pastor of the Portland and Wallerawang congregations. He happily leads a weekly Bible study group, Church gatherings, as well as the Portion 52 youth group. James testifies, “It is a great joy to be serving alongside these congregations as we seek to make Christ known in our area.”
James is married to Katie and is the father of 2 teenage kids: James and Kally. He lives in Portland and works in the local area. He loves the country lifestyle in Portland and how peaceful and relaxed everyone is. He enjoys watching his children play Football (soccer), camping, and putting his carpentry skills into renovating houses. His greatest joy is being part of the Church community where he has deep friendships and is involved in other people’s lives.
At each of our gatherings, we will sing a few songs, listen to a Bible passage read and then explained, and we will speak to God in prayer. Our desire is to know and engage with God our Creator and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Under God’s sovereignty, our vision as the gatherings of Jesus Christ’s disciples in Lithgow, Portland and Wallerawang is to make mature disciples for Jesus through proclaiming God’s gospel of grace to people of all nations, through growing one another to be like Jesus, and through the power of the Holy Spirit joyfully serving one another for God’s glory and honour.
Who is Jesus and what does he have to say about life both now and into eternity? What does it mean to trust him? Jesus Christ made some amazing claims about knowing God the Creator of the universe and dealing with all the problems in the world. He even suffered and died because of these claims! Yet his followers began testifying to seeing him again, claiming Jesus had risen to life after three days! Understanding Christianity requires us to understand who Jesus is.
